Evan Hobart
Artist Statement
My sculptural work is deeply influenced by time spent in both metropolitan environments and remote landscapes, experiences that have shaped my perspective on the world and our place within it. Guided by empathy and a profound appreciation for nature, I use my artwork to interrogate modern life. Ecology, archaeology, and paleontology inform my explorations of social themes, prompting reflection on humankind’s trajectory and fate.
In addition to sculpture, I create functional ceramics with an unconventional edge. As a glass artist, I often incorporate flame-worked glass components into my thrown and carved vessels, merging the traditions of clay and glass into uniquely expressive forms.
